Design Thinking: Habitat
I took a semester course in the School of Architecture at UVA, under Professor Elgin Cleckley, where we were faced with real world design problems that needed creative solutions. For this project, we were posed with the project of making a birdhouse for the birdly competition. It had to combine elements of working in respective environments and for proper birds, needed to follow competition guidelines and birdhouse regulations, be a creative approach to birdhouses, and be presented in a board that had collage, a description, and details for construction. I am very focused in sustainability so my design was all about using things commonly found in everyone’s backyard as well as being able to use the packaging as part of the birdhouse. I used Photoshop for the main construction, InDesign for the layout, and Illustrator for the illustrations.
